GUIDELINES FOR APPLICANTS

1.  ELIGIBILITY

 Applicants must be registered as a Beneficiaries of the Tauranga Moana Maori Trust Board (TMMTB) and are defined as:

  • The beneficiaries of the Board shall be the descendants of the members of those tribes who took up arms against the Crown at the Battles of Gate Pa and Te Ranga or which were dispossessed of any lands as a direct result of those battles”.
  • Be currently studying or intending to study at Tertiary level – which is defined as study at any approved tertiary training institution or establishment within New Zealand. 
  • You must be studying full time.
  • NOTE: Any beneficiary who received a grant in 2008 cannot reapply.

2.  APPLICATION FORMS

 3.  APPLICATION PROCESS 

  • Applications close 4pm Friday 27th November 2009
  • All applications will be acknowledged.
  • The decision of the Selection Committee will be advised within 3 weeks of the closing date.  The names of successful applicants will also be advertised in the BOP Times. 

4. CRITICAL INFORMATION TO BE COMPLETED

  • The Application must be completed in all areas (see the checklist)
  • Accompanying information is to be attached to the Application.
  • Applications are to signed by Kaumatua (confirming whakapapa) and the Applicant's Hapu (sub-tribe) representative on the Board.  (this may be the same person).
  • If you are a successful applicant you will be required to provide proof of enrolment and a statement of fees payable.

Turirangi Te Kani Scholarship

He Tohu Matauranga hei Whakamaumaharatanga ki a Turirangi Te Kani

PURPOSE:               
 To assist Maori students who wish to study full-time at tertiary level.
 
SUBJECT:                 
 General, but preferably land-based.
 
NUMBER AWARDED:
 Maximum of six.
 
DURATION:
Yearly grant.  Applicants may re-apply.
 
VALUE:
$750.00 - $2,000.00 per annum.
 
PLACE OF STUDY
  Any approved tertiary institution.
 

 

WHO CAN APPLY:
 Applicants must be of Te Whanau-a-Apanui, Ngai Te Rangi, Ngati Ranginui, Ngati Pukenga ki Tauranga descent.
